WHN Solicitors is looking to a bright future after revealing a new leadership team which includes the arrival of its first managing director.
Simon Brown joins WHN from Money Advice Group Limited (MAG) and will lead the development of the firm alongside current director Michael Shroot, who takes up the role of chief executive officer (CEO).
After joining Manchester-based Money Advice Group in 2009 as financial director, Simon spearheaded the growth of MAG’s group of companies from 30 to 400 people in ten years, achieving a turnover of £23million and latterly becoming managing director. His role included growth strategy, acquisitions and disposals, risk management and financial direction.
Simon previously worked at Manchester’s N Brown Group for nine years in several senior finance roles, including finance director of its subsidiaries First Financial and Zendor. The firm employs 3,000 people with a turnover of £900million.
He has also worked for global manufacturing firm Cargill, which included three years as finance director at its Copenhagen facility.
Simon’s role at WHN Solicitors will see him oversee all daily operations of the firm, working alongside CEO Michael Shroot to set growth and improvement strategies.

WHN Solicitors has a fee turnover of £5million and employs 100 staff from offices in Accrington, Bacup, Bury, Blackburn, Haslingden, Great Harwood and Rawtenstall. The firm advises businesses, individuals and families across the North across the full range of legal matters.
