Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall are throwing their weight behind a national charity drive to help people plan their future.
The law firm has pledged to become one of the participating solicitors of the Alzheimer’s Society’s ‘Will to Remember’ scheme, devised to enable people with dementia and their carers access to expert legal advice.
The ‘Will to Remember’ scheme offers the opportunity for people to attain a £150 voucher to go towards the planning and writing of a will.
All participating lawyers of the scheme are members of ‘Solicitors for the Elderly’ (SFE), an independent, national organisation of lawyers which work to provide expert legal advice to older and vulnerable people.
Liam Brown, Legacy & Recognition Giving ‘Will to Remember’ Manager, commented:
“Will to Remember is available to our supporters, people with dementia, carers, members, volunteers and staff, plus those who are not yet supporters of the Alzheimer’s Society.
“We want to express to everyone the importance of having a Will in place. Users of the scheme will be able to make their own choices in planning the future, by accessing the appropriate legal advice.”
Stephen Parr, private client partner at Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall, added: “Making a will can be a daunting experience for those with dementia or Alzheimer’s. The thought of making decisions and tackling an array of legal terms can prove quite stressful.
“The scheme helps to alleviate this by offering people a real incentive to plan for the future via a trusted set of experts who are experienced in helping the elderly. With two of our solicitors being members of the Solicitors for the Elderly organisation, we found it important to back the scheme.”
Those who have not yet written a will, or require updates to an existing one can take advantage of the campaign which launched on May 27.
