Leading law firm, Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall has pledged to help spread some festive cheer for children in care this Christmas by donating a host of gifts.
This will be the seventh year that the Bury firm based on Manchester Road has supported the council’s fostering team by donating Christmas gifts.
The gifts supplied by the firm will cater for children in care aged from birth up to 18 and presents were also especially selected for older children.
Partner at Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall, Margaret Mahon, said: “The family team at Bury works with children’s services on a regular basis. We represent children and parents in care proceedings when there are concerns about welfare or safety and they are placed in foster care.
“As we work so closely with the family placement team, we are aware that there are many children this Christmas who may not have had the easiest of years.”
“We are really glad that we can support in this way and we hope we help to put a smile on a number of children’s faces this Christmas.”
Kath Price, assistant team manager, at Bury Council’s fostering team added: “We truly appreciate the support from Woodcocks, Haworth and Nuttall. The donation of gifts each year from the firm and other local associations enable us to ensure that every child receives a fabulous gift at our Christmas party.
“It really helps to kick-start a happy Christmas for those children who may have experienced upset in their lives.”
There are more than 300 children in care in Bury looked after by foster carers and families.
