Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall Solicitors (WHN) has boosted funds for The Met, a Bury-based arts and entertainment charity, raising around £2,300 in a closely fought charity quiz night.
The annual charity event, held at Stables Country Club in Bury, was attended by more than 70 of WHN’s partners, clients and staff who formed 14 quiz teams playing a challenging seven rounds of questions across a variety of topics.
It was hosted by quizmaster, WHN director Sara Beaumont, who is based at the firm’s Bury office. The funds raised through entry fees and raffle tickets will be donated to The Met, an award-winning arts centre which provides an outlet for local artists and musicians to perform in the area. It is run by Bury Metropolitan Arts Association and supported by Bury Council, Arts Council England and Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
The charity’s guest team also managed to scoop the winner’s trophy in a tightly fought contest, beating Manchester-based barristers and legal services providers Kings Chambers (last year’s champions) by just one point, with financial planning and business advisers PM+M coming in third place.

The Met is noted nationally for its specialist folk music programme. Having undergone a multi-million-pound refurbishment completed in 2016, it incorporates two modernised performance spaces, a creative space for local artists, and the Edwin Street Creative Hub which includes a recording studio and creative businesses.
