Two of the region’s most deserving charities received a welcome funding fillip after Greater Manchester’s business community used their quizzing prowess to help raise £4,300.
The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity and Buddy Bag Foundation (BBF) each received £2,150 thanks to WHN Solicitors’ fourth annual charity quiz.
The event took place once again at the Stables Country Club at Bury’s Bolholt Hotel, where a total of 72 people in 18 teams pitted their wits against the region’s brightest business brains.
The trophy for first place went to a team from the Buddy Bag Foundation, while PM&M were runners up and Freshfield PR came third. Raffle prizes were also handed out, including a crystal decanter, Steiff bear and a bottle of champagne.
The event raised £2,300, and WHN boosted this to £4,300 before splitting the total amount equally between The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity and Bubby Bag Foundation.
Michael Shroot, director at WHN Solicitors, which has seven offices across Greater Manchester and Lancashire, said: “We owe a great debt of thanks to everyone who came along to support our charity quiz event in aid of these two very deserving charities. It was a thoroughly enjoyable event and everyone contributed fully to its success.
“The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity and Buddy Bags Foundation both deliver vital support to local children and their families. It was immensely fulfilling to see members of our big-hearted business community turn out in numbers to support these great causes.”
The Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity provides support for local children and their families during treatment for brain tumours and post-surgery disabilities.
The Buddy Bag Foundation (BBF) supplies backpacks containing essential items that children need in emergency situations. The packs include toiletries and pyjamas, plus comfort items such as a book and teddy bear. These gifts help make a difference by ensuring a child has the essential items they need for their immediate wellbeing and comfort.
