Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall’s (WHN) annual charity golf day, which brings together budding golfers from businesses across Lancashire and Greater Manchester, has raised £5,680 for Rossendale Hospice.
Now in its 16th year, the event includes WHN’s staff team as well as teams from WHN clients and partners who compete while raising money for the hospice. This year’s event was held at Rossendale Golf Club, on June 5, with twenty teams taking part on a day which remained largely free from rain.
Prestfield Wealth Management, based in Bury, who also sponsored the 18th hole, bagged the trophy for first place. They were closely followed by the team from JJH Properties, with Bury BID finishing third.
The popular annual event was organised by WHN, which also entered a team. Jimmy Whittles sponsored the longest drive competition, which was won by Andrew Lee who played for financial consultants and insolvency practitioners Horsfields’ team.
The 18th hole competition was won by Adam Goody from Leonard Curtis, while the winner of nearest the pin was Roger Lingard (WHN) on the 13th hole.
Daniel Long, director, WHN, also took part in the day. He said: “Our annual charity golf day was even bigger and better this year. We doubled the funds raised from last year’s event, due to the huge generosity of our sponsors and guest teams.
“Over the past 16 years, through this popular event, we have raised over £85,000 for Rossendale Hospice. WHN has three offices in the Rossendale area and many of our team live in the borough, so supporting the hospice is an important part of our commitment to investing in the local communities we operate in.
“It is a cause close to our heart and we are delighted to continue to support its valuable work.”
Rossendale Hospice cares for patients and their families living with cancer and other life-limiting conditions. It aims to positively influence a future in which everyone within the Rossendale community facing life limiting illness receives the best possible care and support.
It offers a range of services which support the wellbeing of patients from early diagnosis to end of life, including complementary therapies, bereavement counselling, hospice at home and a befriending service.
Joanna Williams, fundraising manager, Rossendale Hospice, said: “Once again, we are thrilled to be receiving a fantastic donation from the annual golf day at Rossendale Golf Club. Each year the support we receive from our corporate partners WHN Solicitors is overwhelming and to be a part of the day too makes it even more special.
“Having the opportunity to also inform the guests about our vital services is extremely important in spreading the word about what we do, every day, to enhance the lives of our patients and their families.”
